Unused monitor screen textures can be found in the game's data. Some of them were recreated or ported from GoldenEye 007.
Perfect Dark artist B. Jones's impersonation of Ms. Leadbetter, a character from the British TV series The Good Life, was the basis for her becoming the voice actress for Cassandra.
Nintendo requested that an American-voice actress be used for Joanna Dark. After auditions and failed negotiations, Rare decided to give Joanna a British accent voiced by Rare employee Eveline Novakovic, who had been hired as part of the music team.
Eveline Novakovic's last name, before marriage, was Fischer. She has also worked on several Donkey Kong series games and Ken Griffey, Jr's Winning Run. She has often been credited as E. Fischer.

Perfect Dark Walkthrough

According to game artist B Jones, Joanna's armor outfit was heavily influenced by the manga and anime series Ghost In the Shell. Likewise, Joanna's black dragon dress is based off of the Killer Instinct games, a series also developed by Rare.
According to game designer Duncan Botwood and game artist B Jones, many of the science fiction ideas for Perfect Dark were heavily influenced by Blade Runner, The X-Files, Ghost In the Shell, and conspiracy theories.

Perfect Dark Soundtrack

Perfect Dark's creation is a result of Rare employees wanting to make the sequel to Goldeneye 007, Tomorrow Never Dies. However, they also wanted to make a game with weapons that had secondary functions, a female protagonist, and aliens. After being outbid by EA to make Tomorrow Never Dies, Rare dropped out of the bid war and used these ideas for Perfect Dark.
B. Jones, an artist who worked on GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, stated in an interview that there was not a 'production manager, schedule, or weekly meetings, or monthly meetings, or as far as I can remember, any meetings whatsoever... People would just do things they thought were cool and would work'.

Perfect Dark Zero

With the amount of features added into the game during development, the use of the N64 Memory Expansion Pack became an unintentional necessity to be able to play the game with all features.

Early on in development, half of the team working on Perfect Dark left Rare to form Free Radical Design.

Joanna Dark's name was created by David Doak using Jeanne d'Arc, aka Joan of Arc, as inspiration.
One of the available heads in the multiplayer character creator is actually that of Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto. Another is Ken Lobb, a Nintendo employee who provided a lot of assistance in the development of GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64. The heads of various Rare employees can also be found in the line-up.
By using a Transfer Pak to plug in the Game Boy version of the game to the Nintendo 64 version, 4 elements are unlocked in the 64 version: the Cloaking Device, the Hurricane Fists, the R-Tracker, and it unlocks all the guns in Solo Mode.
After opening the safe in level six, it's possible to see a BAFTA award. This is a reference to Rare's win of the BAFTA award for for 'Best U.K Developer' in 1998.
The game was originally to be called in Japan 'Red and Black', which helped convey the edginess of the game, as the title 'Perfect Dark' did not translate well in Japanese. However the game was eventually released as 'Perfect Dark' with the red and black cover motif as a relic of the previous name.
Joanna Dark is Asian in the Japanese version. This change only applies to Joanna and nobody else, not even her sister, Velvet.

Perfect Dark was originally going to have a face-mapping feature that enabled players to take a picture of themselves with a Game Boy Camera and import their face onto a polygonal character in the game.
When saving Carrington from kidnappers in his villa, the player will come across his wine collection. If you shoot every bottle, Carrington will tell the player to 'act your age.'

There is a single wedge of cheese hidden in every level, some of which requiring absurd measures to get to. They seem to serve no purpose at all.

Perfect Dark N64

When customizing your multiplayer character's body type, 4 different 'dinner jackets' can be selected as a nod to the infamous all-bonds cheat that never officially made it into Goldeneye.
To the untrained eye, the Perfect Dark logo looks like the text 'Perfect Dark' in front of an 'N', symbolizing the platform the game is on. A closer look reveals that 'N' to actually be 'PD', standing for Perfect Dark.
